My Best Friends’ Wedding | Our Life

This is Stephen.

He has been one of my best friends for over ten years.  He is kind, clever, intelligent, fun, thoughtful, and endlessly creative.  This past weekend he married his long-time love Katie.  They both are so important to me and this weekend is one I’ve looked forward to for many months (heck, years!)  The old Hingham crew and our families headed up to The Brass Heart Inn in New Hampshire for lake floating, baby running, snack eating, golf club swinging, and friend chatting.  Because it’s basically impossible for me to not take photos I snuck over and captured a few getting ready photos for Katie and otherwise just generally enjoyed myself.  It was so meaningful for me to meet Wilder and Sawyer, the new babies of my best long-distance girlfriends, and to watch Teddy interacting with people who mean so much to me.  This weekend came after eight weeks in a row of shooting at least a wedding a week so I really needed the break and enjoyed it that much more.

Teddy never has clothes on.

I was honored to be asked by Steve and Katie to do a reading during their ceremony, and out of respect for them I wanted to remain present and not distracted by taking photos.  As such, this is the only snap I got.  Steve and Katie’s vows were so amazing that I cried the whole time, so I wouldn’t have been able to shoot anyway!

Then, it was time to celebrate with our babies 🙂

Finn has two speeds: stop, and go.

Teddy was beside himself with excitement over being able to do this:

and then he danced.  a lot.

I love having creative friends, thanks to Eli for doing a mini shoot with us, and thanks to Jessica Love for taking some professional portraits for me – those will be up on her blog soon! I can’t wait.

After the wedding was over we said goodbye to our friends and did some exploring of Maine and New Hampshire.  We visited Portland, Portsmouth, and the crazy that is the Hampton Beach boardwalk, and we ended out labor day with a quick lay on some warm sand.  I think, er know, that the Train Museum was Teddy’s favorite part.

That random chick on a photo booth from the 50s?  I think she totally looks like me, except I’m (hopefully?) slightly better looking and with much better bangs 🙂

I’m so very sad that this weekend is over but so very happy for the happiness of my friends and the opportunity to be surrounded by people that I love.
