A few weeks before Katie and Doug’s wedding I received an unexpected package in the mail. In it were four books – 2 for me and 2 for my son – that were sent from Katie who works at a publishing house and is a life-long literature lover. My son and I had just been through a scary car accident and the books Katie sent were a perfect and much needed pick-us-up. One of the books, The Gratitude Diaries, I can credit with getting me out of that tough place last year. This is the kind of woman Katie is, someone who overflows with kindness, so it unsurprising that she found a handsome and generous man in Doug who loves her completely. Together they’re a team that just radiates with joy and their wedding day reflected all that is good about the life they’re creating together. The wedding itself had an adorable library and book theme that Katie poured her heart into, and the beautiful Barns at Wesleyan Hills was overflowing with the amazing floral design of the Maid of Honor’s 2H Flowers boutique. The ‘things’ in this wedding truly were wonderful but it was the people, and all their laughter and happy tears, that were the truest testament to the contents of Katie and Doug’s souls. Here’s what I saw on this day.
We can’t control everything that happens in our lives but we can control our outlook, and with hearts so full of gratitude and kindness this couple is sure to go far. I feel so lucky to know them.
