Every time that I leave a true documentary photo session I just feel so humble and full of joy. Shooting this way, and capturing honestly the connection between wonderful families, is without a doubt some of my most rewarding work. This session, for sweet Ellie and her two Grandmas, was extra special for me since it celebrated a non-traditional family dynamic, something I’m passionate about supporting. Ellie’s paternal Grandmother and her wife have absolutely relished in their new role as Nanas and that little girl is so lucky to have such artistic, musical, and loving women in her life. We spent a simple day at their home on Cape Cod – playing with blocks, blowing bubbles, visiting with the mailman, playing music, doing art, playing outside, and just enjoying each other’s company. Ellie’s aunt is a sorority sister of mine, talented photographer, and maker of yummy jams and snacks. More importantly than that she is a generous woman with a big heart – a trait I noticed that most certainly runs in this family. Here’s a day in the life of this family.
I’m looking to capture more families with young children and their Grandparents. Know of a family that may want their love celebrated with documentary photography? Shoot me an email! firstname.lastname@example.org I’ll be offering special rates on all Grandparent shoots booked in the month of April. Don’t be shy!
