2011 was an amazing year in a lot of ways. Professionally speaking, photography by klc completely exploded. I was wholly unprepared for how crazy it would get so the first thank you goes out to all of the wonderful people I worked with this year who chose to work with me and then hung in there with me when things got so nuts. The absolute best part of my job is getting to meet so many great people and I can say that I’ve left this past year with many new friends and strengthened relationships with old ones. While there were many ups and downs for me this past year personally I am very thankful for the ups: I was able to travel to Wyoming and see lots of Crowleys and watch (and photograph) my lovely cousin get married and also traveled to Missouri to spend time with more beloved family. I watched my Teddy Bear grow from a baby into a boy and he continues to amaze me daily. Finally, on a very personal note, after spending the year taking photographs of everyone else’s beautiful love, I finally found my own. I am the happiest, most hopeful, and most grateful than I have ever been and I cannot wait to embrace what this year has in store for us. More than ever, I love love and I am honored every day to have the chance to capture yours.
Here are some of my favorite shots of this past year in no particular order.
The father of this bride was deaf, and after the last song he signed “I love you” to everyone on the dance floor. There were tears, mostly from me.
I was honored to be asked to join one of my couples when they visited the bride’s ailing grandfather in the hospital after the ceremony.
Julie and Corey were the picture-perfect contemporary vintage couple with my favorite styling of the year.
While Lisa and Chris had their wedding at one of my favorite venues of the year – Mechanic’s Hall in Worcester. (L & C, is the baby here yet?!)
Stephanie become a new friend and I continue to be inspired by her energy and light.
While this image inspired me more than almost any other from 2012. I’m darn proud of this one.
Two of my favorite people in the world celebrated their pregnancy…
and then welcomed their baby girl into the world
My amazing cousin found the one she had been waiting for
and a very special family finally welcomed the new baby they had been waiting so very long for
Rebecca’s Hurricane Irene’d wedding is one I’ll never forget and I love the symmetry in this shot
My second storm-cramped wedding got me this shot in the freak Halloween blizzard.
and the freak weather continued with an 80, yes 80, degree day for a wedding in October. The groomsmen took full advantage.
I photographed little boys…
…and big boys…
…and everything in between
I got to reconnect with an old friend and meet her amazing family that now has an added member (who I hope to photograph soon – Hi Elliot!)
and I met and photographed – twice – one of most gorgeous families around
My best friend offered to jump in a freezing cold river in her wedding dress…
while another bride did the same in the freezing Atlantic Ocean. She didn’t anticipate having to run from the local wildlife, though 🙂
I captured love under a beautiful cloud-filled sky
and also a different sort of cloud…
I captured old friends now all grown up and in love
and watched countless people having an absolute blast (love.my.job)
and of course, I took millions of photos of my Theodore and helping him grow has been by far my biggest accomplishment
and finally, this photo is not only one of my top 3 shots of the year (Lindsay was a stunning bride), but it was on this night that while I was shooting a handsome man I once knew came up to me and told me he’d like to see me again, and we’ve been together ever since.
Thank you thank you thank you for sharing a little bit of your lives with me. It was truly a transformative and humbling year. Here’s to an even better 2012!
